Telehealth App Strategy and Design
Skindoc
PROJECT
Skindoc is a telehealth company founded by NHS dermatologists to conduct skin examinations and treatments.
I worked closely with the founders to concept, designed and build the initial MVP and subsequent releases. Within a year of launch, it had a lot of traction, received significant funding and is now the foundation of a successful derma health business.
PROCESS
The key challenge was to concept, design and build a minimum viable product that could deliver significant value, but within initially constrained funds.
I assembled a design team and brought in a development partner with nearshore resources to deliver the MVP within the founders’ bootstrapped budget.
I ran product strategy workshops, including service design mapping and customer flows, to map out how the proposition would be delivered, considering multiple sides of the marketplace (patients, doctors and pharmacy). We also ran early market tests across several channels, including both digital and physical advertising, and provided support for pre-launch user testing.
OUTCOME
The site had good early traction, which attracted interest from a VC who invested in the solution (at a valuation of £1 million). Since then additional features have been added to the solution, and the business has grown to include physical consultations in addition to the online appointments.
