Medical Learning App
StayCurrent | GlobalCast MD
PROJECT
StayCurrent is a medical learning and news service which provides multimedia content consumption to suit the lives of busy doctors.
I led the redesign of their content streaming app with a view to creating a learning and reference tool for all stages of a clinician’s professional career.
The learning resources are sourced from a combination of hospital information resources, additional third-party content and proprietary video and podcast content.
I designed a structure that would allow both structured curriculum learning and quick reference in medical situations.
Over the past few years, I have regularly provided design and strategy support to the StayCurrent team.
PROCESS
In response to their initial brief, we ran a series of product strategy workshops to better define their audience, value proposition and positioning. The results of this investigation outlined three distinct propositions pertaining to education, news and broadcasting.
We redesigned and prototyped an app which focused on the learning and development functionality, and ran a series of online market research and prototype tests with US clinicians.
From here, we finalised the UX structure and designs, and worked with the team to roadmap the changes.
OUTCOME
The initial testing of the new designs yielded very positive results, with most of the medical respondents rating them useful and potentially usable for their own needs. We managed a handover of the designs to the StayCurrent development team, and have since engaged with the team on several more contracts, including explorations of next steps
